About FotoSpeak

The cliché that a picture is worth a thousand words isn’t always true. Truly good Images inspire many more, infused with emotion, while the more ordinary invoke hardly a passing comment. FotoSpeak promotes the idea that photography is a means for communication on multiple levels. Our contributors are artists who have a message and believe in the power of visual imagery.

Our website is currently under development, and we hope that it will reflect this viewpoint in an expansive manner. We intend to provided content with impact and provide a vehicle for others to access images that they find compelling on a personal level.

Jerome Parmer

Jerome Parmer is a freelance photographer who likes being in the mix whether at music venues, attending community events, or covering a protest in the streets. An Oakland resident for many years with a love for exploring the world, he finds photography encourages active engagement with others. He enjoys creating and sharing images, and donates much of his time in that manner. Jerry has found photography helps one to look at our surroundings with more intentionality, and that it’s also a way to uncover joy in the seemingly ordinary. After a career in Medical Technology, he decided to become serious about the creative arts.

The theme of the current exhibition at the Rockridge Cafe is “ Night and Day Around the Bay”. Jerome is also a regular contributor to Oaklandside.org, Berkeleyside.org, SFBayTimes.com, and Riffmagazine.com. News, performance, urban, and night photography are current interests, though he also experiments with other genres as the mood strikes.

You might also find him out on a tennis court, on the road, or walking his dog Roxie the Wunderpup.
