Ashes at Last Headlines at 924 Gillman
On tour to promote their new album All in the Name of Entertainment, this independent Los Angeles based post-hardcore “crabcore” band channels a musical genre/vibe I have to admit I must have missed the first time around (think 2010’ vintage). They have received raves from many persons more knowledgeable than myself, however, and I definitely enjoyed playing catch up this past weekend. Metal with a melody? Crunchy but kind? Punk, punchy, and peppy? They definitely had the crowd worked up and jumping with a blistering set featuring tracks from their February release. They definitely know how to work the stage, prowling while playing some great core metal tunes and firing up the crowd. The group is fronted by Niko on vocals, with Jude on lead guitar, Aidan on rhythm guitar, Cesar on drums, and Michael on bass. They will be on the road soon for an East Coast tour that will kick of July 2nd ash the Ramona Loft in Chicago. Definitely check them out live, and you can find their album on all the major streaming services. Instagram @ashesatlast.
